COMMUNITY PARTNER BOOTH APPLICATION
Description of Event: The Fern Ridge Beef Pit BBQ is the longest running annual picnic in Lane County. It is held the last Sunday in July on the grounds of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on East Broadway in Veneta. It is the most significant fundraising event for the parish. The BBQ is open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and nearly 1,000 dinners are served during that time. Guests enjoy live music, silent and oral auctions, a cash raffle, bingo, a beer & wine gazebo, snack booth and games for the kids.
Permanent structures on the grounds include a row of 12 x 12 covered booth spaces which face the center of the BBQ grounds. The booths are closed in the back and joined side-by-side. They have a railing across the front, but are accessible through gateway openings along the row. The ground is compacted gravel. Traditionally, our parishioners have manned these booths, many of them providing games and entertainment for the kids. This year we are opening up 6 of the booths, making them available for outside groups to participate in the BBQ.
Definition of Community Partner: A Community Partner is a group or organization that seeks to promote public awareness about themselves by having a booth at the BBQ. This is not a fundraising opportunity for your group. Likewise, there is no fee charged for use of the booth space. Instead, the Community Partner is asked to provide some kind of entertainment at the booth throughout the day in exchange for the opportunity to reach 1,000+ people with information about your organization. This entertainment may take the form of a game, crafts or activity that our younger guests may partake in at no charge. Candy, crafts or small prizes are encouraged to be given, at the discretion of the Community Partner.
Applications will be juried and selected at the sole discretion of the BBQ Chair Committee. Community Partners are accepted for one year. Preference may be given to those groups or organizations which are based in the West Lane area or those whose purpose and activity fits with the overall tradition of the BBQ as it has become established through the years.
Those Community Partners selected for participation in this year’s BBQ will be able to visit the grounds to see the event layout and finalize details for setting up and running your activity. Members of the Booth Committee will work with you to ensure you have a successful experience at the BBQ.
Selection Process: Please complete the information below and mail it to: St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Attention: BBQ Booth Committee, P.O. A member of the Booth Committee will contact you to review your application, get additional information, and/or answer any questions. We will do this in order to most fully and accurately represent your proposal through the jury process. A final decision on the selection of Community Partners will be made after the deadline.
